We work closely with our clients to ensure our products are as unique as their vision. Offering maximum customisation wherever possible, we believe in creating a signature design language - an Amber benchmark. We are committed to meet time lines, whilst maintaining a stringent quality control. Our products are BIFMA, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 certified.

The materials we use like wood, metals, fabrics, etc. are of the highest quality. Our use of plastic and other non-renewable resources is minimal. 99% of our components are manufactured in India, at our own facility or by our suppliers.

Intuitive Design Process and R&D Facility

Innovation has been Amber's primary objective whilst providing original and innovative solutions in furniture. Through the years, an intrinsic and intuitive design process and prototyping has facilitated simulation and testing of new ideas before they are put into production.

Over four decades, Amber has created a benchmark with its progressive thinking and innovation in design. Through its indigenous use of materials and technology, it has decisively influenced the history of furniture in India.

The team at Amber is headed by Kanji Nirmal with his experience of more than 45 years in creating furniture. He has been the force behind the revolutionary Slic, Premium, and Icon series of chairs amongst many more.

His daughter Binal, an architect from KRVIA Mumbai and a Masters Degree in Product Design from the esteemed Domus Academy in Milan, Italy brings her innate passion for furniture and a unique international flavour to the design process at Amber. She has created the Ojo, Thin and Artisan series of chairs and many more.

The Amber Legacy

A vision to constantly stay ahead and maintain a clear distinction from competitors has always fueled our unique hands-on approach to design and production, innate attention to detail and a sensibility towards natural materials.

Since it was established in 1979, Amber has grown exponentially as a family-owned business, and intends to shape its future with a firm commitment of being able to look back on its legacy with pride.

  • 1979

    Began as 'Amber - House of Fine Furniture' with a modest display space of 450 sq.ft. and a workshop of 300 sq.ft.

  • 1984

    Moved into a 3,000 sq.ft. factory facility to meet increasing clients' needs.

    1987

    Revolutionised the office furniture industry as Amber System Seating with the Slic Chair, an ergonomically designed, slender frame structured chair.

    1992

    Moved into 3-storied, 4,500 sq.ft. showroom and office.

    1993

    Set up a full-fledged, in-house R&D facility, Introduced a systems approach to chair design, providing seating solutions from the basic to the executive level within a single design theme.

    1997

    ‘Slic Premium' - India's first laminated wood chair introduced.

    2000

    'Icon' - revolving chair with jute weaving, combining tradition and modern.

    2001

    Moved into a 6,000 sq.ft. office and a 30,000 sq.ft. factory.

    2003

    Range expanded to 30 product families, catering to institutions, auditoriums, conferences & cafes.

    2006

    Nikunj Nirmal joins Amber Group.

    2009

    IIID Award for 'Excellence in Consistency for Manufacturing and Developing Interior-oriented Products'.

    2012

    'C2' - advanced ergonomics and design with 3D moulded cushion for seat and back.

    2017

    Architect and Product Designer Binal Nirmal joins Amber group. Emergence of Karnima Design Lab.

    2019

    Introduction of new crafted luxury range with chairs like Ojo, Thin, Loop and Contour - a 3D moulded wood chair.
